“주의 말씀들이 들어오면 빛을 주며 이 빛이 단순한 자에게 명철을 주나이다”(시 119:130, 한글킹제임스)
하나님의 말씀이 들어오면 무엇을 주는지 보십시오. 오늘의 본문 구절에 “빛”으로 번역된 히브리어 단어는 “오르(or)”이며, 이는 “빛이 나타나거나 어른거린다”, “빛나다”, “영화롭게 하다”, “불을 붙이다” 등의 뜻을 가지고 있습니다. 또한 이 단어는 어두운 밤을 뚫고 새로운 아침을 맞이할 때 나타나는 빛을 의미하기도 합니다.
따라서 오늘의 본문 구절은 하나님의 말씀이 당신의 마음에 들어오면, 당신을 환하고 빛나게 만든다고 말하고 있습니다. 말씀은 당신의 삶을 동틀 녘과 같이 만들며 영화롭게 합니다. 말씀은 당신을 불타오르게 할 것입니다. 할렐루야!
말씀이 들어오면 당신에게 빛을 비추는 것이 아니라 당신을 빛나게 할 것이라고 한 점에 주목하십시오. 이 두 단어는 비슷한 문맥으로 자주 사용되지만, 뚜렷하게 다른 의미를 가지고 있습니다. 빛을 비추는 것은 어떤 물체에 빛을 비춰서 더 밝게, 더 잘 보이도록 만드는 것입니다. 이는 빛나는 것, 곧 빛을 내뿜고 밝고 환한 광채를 내뿜는 존재가 되는 것과는 다른 의미입니다.
어떤 것이 빛을 내는 존재라고 묘사될 때 이는 빛을 만들어 내거나 반사할 수 있는 능력을 가지고 있음을 의미합니다. 주님의 말씀이 들어오면 그 말씀은 당신을 빛나게 합니다. 당신은 불타고 빛나는 빛이 됩니다. 당신은 안으로부터 성령님의 광채와 빛과 찬란함을 만들어 냅니다!
주님은 요한복음 5:35에서 침례 요한에 대해 나누실 때 그를 타오르며 빛나는 등불이라고 묘사하셨습니다. “그는 타오르며 빛나는 등불이었노라. 너희가 한동안 그의 빛을 기뻐하기 원하였느니라.”(한글킹제임스) 말씀이 당신 안에 들어오게 하십시오. 말씀을 먹으십시오. 그러면 말씀이 당신을 통해 빛날 것입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 당신의 말씀은 내 마음을 비추는 참 빛입니다. 말씀을 부지런히 공부하고 묵상함으로 내 마음은 빛으로 넘쳐나고, 나는 강렬하게 빛을 내며, 당신의 선하심을 발산하고 당신의 친절하심과 은혜를 나의 세상에 드러냅니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

LUMINOSITY BY THE WORD
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple”(Psalm 119:130).
I’ll like you to observe what the entrance of God’s words brings: Light. The Hebrew word translated “light” in the opening verse is “'ôr”; and it means to make luminous or lambent; to shine, to be glorious, to kindle or to set on fire. It also alludes to coming from the dark nights and breaking into a new day.
Thus, what this verse is saying is the entrance of God's Word into your heart will make you luminous or shine; it makes your life like the dawning of the morning and glorious. It will conflagrate. Hallelujah!
Observe that I didn’t say the entrance of the Word will illuminate you, but that it’ll make you luminous. Even though these two words are often used in related contexts, they have distinct meanings and connotations. To illuminate something means to shine light on it and to make it brighter and more visible. That’s different from being luminous which means emitting light; be radiant or shiny, glowing or effulgent.
When something is described as luminous, it means it has the quality of producing or reflecting light. The entrance of the Word makes you glow; you become a burning and a shining light—you produce from within you such brightness, radiance and brilliance of the Spirit!
It brings to mind the Lord’s testimony of John the Baptist whom He described in John 5:35 as a burning and a shining light: “He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.” Let the Word get into you, feed on the Word; it’ll shine through you.
PRAYER
Dear Father, your Word is the true light that lights my heart. Through diligent study and constant meditation on the Word, my heart is flooded with light and I shine forth with such intensity, glowing ever so brightly, radiating your goodness, and exhibiting your kindness and graciousness to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
