Build And Use Your Own Faith

 

“제자들에게 이르시되 너희 믿음이 어디 있느냐 하시니 그들이 두려워하고 놀랍게 여겨 서로 말하되 그가 누구이기에 바람과 물을 명하매 순종하는가 하더라”(눅 8:25)

 

당신이 다른 사람의 보호 아래 있는 한, 그 사람은 당신과 당신의 상황에 대해 권세를 행사할 수 있고, 그것은 어떤 결과를 낼 것입니다. 예를 들어, 저는 수년 전 젊은 그리스도인이었을 때, 친구들과 함께 여행을 떠났습니다. 저희는 말씀을 전할 일들이 있었습니다.

저는 심각한 복통을 겪은 적이 있었기 때문에, 여행을 다니는 동안 토할 일이 없도록 아무것도 먹지 않았습니다. 그래서 저는 항상 다른 사람들이 먹는 것을 지켜보고 있어야 했습니다. 결국, 제 친구는 참지 못하고 저에게 “너 금식하고 있니?”라고 물었습니다.

그때 저는 그 친구에게 제 상황에 대해 솔직하게 설명했습니다. 그러자 그 친구가 “그렇다면 우리가 함께 여행하고 있는 동안에는 어떤 복통도 없을 테니 그냥 먹어라”고 말했습니다. 저는 그 친구의 말에 즉각 받아들였습니다. 그의 믿음에 올라타서 정상적으로 먹기 시작했습니다.

그러자 어떤 일이 일어났는지 아십니까? 여행 중에는 어떤 문제도 없었습니다. 그러나 집에 돌아오고 나서, 제일 처음 먹은 것들을 모두 다 토해버렸습니다! 복통이 다시 찾아왔습니다. 저는 무슨 일이 일어났는지 정확히 이해했습니다. 저는 여행 내내 친구의 권세 아래 있었고, 그것은 실제로 효과가 있었습니다.

그런 믿음이 삶의 문제들을 다루는 데 얼마나 도움이 되겠습니까? 저는 제 믿음이 역사하도록 해야 한다는 것을 깨달았고, 그렇게 했을 때 승리를 경험했습니다. 당신은 말씀에 대한 지식을 늘림으로써 당신의 믿음을 자라게 해야 하고, 믿음을 행함으로 강화시켜야 합니다. 삶은 영적이며 당신은 자신의 삶, 즉 당신에게 일어나는 일들에 대한 책임이 있습니다.

오늘의 본문 구절에서 읽은 것처럼 제자들이 바다에서 폭풍을 만나 절망에 빠져 예수님께 달려갔을 때, 예수님은 그들에게 “너희 믿음이 어디에 있느냐?”고 물으셨습니다. 그분은 제자들이 그분께 오지 않고도 스스로 상황에 대해 뭔가를 할 수 있다는 것을 깨닫게 하셨습니다.

당신의 재정, 직업, 건강 또는 삶의 어떤 영역에서 무슨 일이 일어나는지는 상관없습니다. 겁을 먹거나 울면서 도움을 요청하지 마십시오! 당신의 믿음을 사용하십시오. 믿음의 말을 하십시오. 성경은 말합니다. “믿음으로 모든 세계가 하나님의 말씀으로 지어진 줄을 우리가 아나니 보이는 것은 나타난 것으로 말미암아 된 것이 아니니라”(히 11:3)

당신은 믿음의 고백으로 일들과 상황들이 당신의 삶을 향한 하나님의 완전하신 뜻에 일치하도록 고치고, 정리하고, 재구성할 수 있습니다.

 

고백

내 주변에서 무슨 일이 일어났는지 혹은 일어나고 있는지는 중요하지 않습니다. 나는 내 입술에 있는 하나님의 말씀으로 모든 것을 하나님의 온전하신 뜻에 일치하도록 조정합니다. 나는 나의 믿음으로 내 삶이 영광과 탁월함의 길 안에 있도록 합니다. 나는 건강하고 강합니다! 어떤 아픔이나 질병도 내 몸에 있을 수 없습니다! 나는 절대 패배하거나 피해자가 될 수 없습니다. 내 입술에 있는 하나님의 말씀은 하나님이 말씀하시는 것이기 때문입니다! 나는 성공입니다! 하나님께 영광 드립니다!

BUILD AND USE YOUR OWN FAITH

 

"And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him" (Luke 8:25).

 

Sometimes, as long as you’re under the cover of someone else, that person may exercise authority over you and your circumstances and it will produce results, to a certain degree. For example, as a young Christian many years ago, I went on a trip with a friend of mine and a couple of others. We had some preaching engagements.

This happened at a time when I used to experience serious stomach problems, so while we were on this trip, I wouldn't eat anything because I would throw up whatever I ate within a few minutes of eating it. So, all the time, I had to watch others eat. Finally, my friend couldn’t take it anymore; so, he asked me, “Are you fasting?”

At that point, I opened up and explained the situation to him. Then he said to me, “In that case, as long as we’re together on this trip, you’ll not have any problem with your stomach; eat.” I yielded myself immediately to his words, more like, riding on his faith and started eating normally,

And guess what? There was no problem throughout the trip. But when I got back home, the very first thing I’d eat, I threw it all up! The stomach trouble resurfaced. I understood exactly what happened. I submitted myself to my friend’s authority throughout that journey, and it worked.

But there’s just how far such faith can go in helping you deal with life’s issues. I realized I had to put my own faith to work and when I did, I got the victory. You’ve got to keep growing your own faith by increasing your knowledge of the Word and strengthening it by putting it to work. Life is spiritual and you’re responsible for your life—the things that happen with you.

When the disciples ran to Jesus in desperation during the turmoil on the sea, as read in our theme verse, Jesus asked them, “Where is your faith?” He made them realize they could have done something about the situation without necessarily coming to Him.

It makes no difference what has happened or is happening with your finances, job and health or in any area of your life; don’t fret or cry for help! Use your faith. Declare words of faith. The Bible says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3).

With your faith affirmations, you can repair, arrange and reconstruct things and circumstances to synchronize with God’s perfect will for your life.

 

CONFESSION

It makes no difference what’s happened or is happening around me; with the Word of God on my lips, I repair arrange and reconstruct things in line with God’s perfect will. With my faith, I frame my life in the path of glory and excellence. I’m healthy and strong! No sickness or disease can fasten itself to my body! I’ll never lose or be a victim in this life, because the Word of God on my lips is God talking! I’m a success! Glory to God!
