탁월한 삶
An Excellent Life
“… 주께 합당하게 행하여 범사에 기쁘시게 하고 모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺게 하시며 하나님을 아는 것에 자라게 하시고 그의 영광의 힘을 따라 모든 능력으로 능하게 하시며 기쁨으로 모든 견딤과 오래 참음에 이르게 하시고”(골 1:9-11)
사도 바울을 통한 이 성령의 기도에서 배울 점이 아주 많습니다. 이 기도는 우리에게 참되고 균형 잡힌 그리스도인의 삶, 즉 탁월한 삶에 대해 보여줍니다. 이 기도는 당신에게 주께 합당하게 행하여 범사에 기쁘시게 하고 모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺으며 하나님을 아는 것에 자라라고 말합니다.
정말 대단한 말씀입니다. 이 말씀은 그리스인인 당신을 향한 하나님의 뜻을 드러냅니다. 하나님은 당신의 매일이 그분께 합당하기를, 즉 하나님의 의 안에서 행하고 범사에 그분을 기쁘시게 하기를 원하십니다. 예수님은 항상 아버지를 기쁘시게 하셨습니다. 예수님은 요한복음 8:29에서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “나를 보내신 분께서 나와 함께 계시는도다. 내가 항상 아버지를 기쁘게 하는 그것들을 행하므로 그분께서 나를 혼자 버려두지 아니하셨느니라 하시니라.”(한글 흠정역)
아버지를 기쁘게 하는 일을 하는 것이 당신의 평생의 일이자 유일한 일이 되어야 합니다. 그러면서 바울은 “모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺으라”고 말합니다. 모든 선한 일에 열매 맺는 삶이 어떤 삶일지 생각해 보십시오. 바로 우리가 그리스도 예수 안에서 소유한 삶인 탁월한 삶입니다. 이는 시편 기자의 말을 떠올리게 합니다. “그는 시냇가에 심은 나무가 철을 따라 열매를 맺으며 그 잎사귀가 마르지 아니함 같으니 그가 하는 모든 일이 다 형통하리로다”(시 1:3)
주님께 합당하게 행하여 범사에 주님을 기쁘시게 하며 모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺는 것만이 전부가 아닙니다. 그분은 당신이 하나님을 아는 지식에 자라기를 원하십니다. 자신의 일을 잘하면서도 하나님을 아는 지식이 자라지 않는 사람들이 있습니다. 그래서는 안 됩니다. 하나님은 당신의 삶이 균형 잡힌 삶이기를 원하십니다.
당신의 직장이나 사업이 당신이 기도하고, 성경을 공부하고, 하나님의 일에서 성장하는 시간을 방해하지 않도록 하십시오. 참되고 균형 잡힌 그리스도인의 삶은 의 안에서 행하고, 범사에 주님을 기쁘시게 하고, 모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺고, 하나님을 아는 지식에 자라는 것입니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 내게 탁월하고 균형 잡힌 삶을 주시니 감사드립니다. 하나님의 영으로 말미암아 나는 주님께 합당하게 살고 행하며, 범사에 그분을 온전히 기쁘시게 하고, 의의 열매를 맺고, 아버지의 말씀을 아는 지식 안에서, 그 지식을 통해 꾸준히 성장하고 자라납니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

AN EXCELLENT LIFE
“…That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness” (Colossians 1:9-11).
There’s so much to learn from this prayer of the Spirit through the Apostle Paul. It gives us an idea of a true and balanced Christian life—an excellent life. It says that you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.
That's extraordinary; it reveals God’s will for you as a Christian. He wants your daily life to be worthy of Him—walking in His righteousness and pleasing Him in all things. Jesus always pleased the Father; He said in John 8:29, “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”
It should be your life’s work to always and only do those things that please the Father. Along with this he says, “being fruitful in every good work.” Think about the kind of life where you’re fruitful in every good work. That’s what we have in Christ Jesus—an excellent life. It reminds of the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 1:3: “he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
That’s not all, as you’re walking worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in all things and fruitful in every good work, He also wants you to increase in the knowledge of God. There’re people who, even though are doing well in their work, aren't increasing in the knowledge of God. No! He wants your life to be balanced.
Don’t let it be that your job or business distracted you from giving time to pray, study the Scriptures, and grow in the things of God. A true and balanced Christian life is walking in righteousness, pleasing the Lord in all things, fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for giving me an excellent and balanced life. By your Spirit, I live and conduct myself in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him in all things, bearing fruits of righteousness, and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
