Affirming His Greatness In Worship
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy
Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the
work whereunto I have called them (Acts 13:2).
Luke, by the inspiration of the Spirit, pens for
us how certain prophets and teachers in the
church at Antioch ministered to the Lord and fasted,
and received guidance and instruction from the Lord.
Notice they didn’t have to cry, scream, bawl or wail,
“Lord, we want to hear your voice; please speak to
us.” All they did was that they ministered to the Lord,
and fasted, and He blessed them with His Word and guidance.
How do you minister to the Lord? It’s by
worshiping Him, singing, and affirming His praise,
making confessions to His Name. The way to make
confession to His Name is to affirm His greatness
and to declare what He’s done; you proclaim His
marvellous works, and attribute the goodness in the
world, and the blessings you enjoy, to His mighty
Name. You affirm the beautiful things He’s done in
your life. And, you confess and speak words that are
consistent with what He’s said about Himself.
Hebrews 13:15 says, “By him therefore let us
offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that
is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” The
phrase “giving thanks” is the Greek word “homologeo,”
which means, “to make confessions to His Name.” This
is different from just saying, “I thank you Lord”;
rather, you consciously make confession to the greatness of His Name.
You can do that even now! Tell Him how worthy
He is, and how He’s given you an indestructible,
indomitable and impregnable life. Affirm that He’s the
strong and breasted One; the most-high God; the living
and faithful God, the healer, the provider and supplier
of all good things. Declare that He’s greater than all. As
you reverently utter these beautiful words to the Lord
in worship, you’re ministering to Him. In turn, He’ll
minister to you and speak words to you that’ll launch
you into your next and greater level of glory.
Prayer
Dear Father, you alone are worthy of all praise, and I extol your
mighty Name; you’re the healer, the provider, and supplier of all
good things; you’re greater than all.
Your Name is great and your dominion is everlasting; your love,
mercies and compassion fills the earth! You’re glorified
in my life, and in all the earth, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
