The Gift Of His Name
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I
do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye
shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it
(John 14:13-14).
The Lord Jesus gave us the power of attorney
to use His Name. That Name belongs to you
today; you have the legal authority to use the Name
of Jesus. You can do anything in His Name.
Just before His ascension, Jesus said, “...All
power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:18-19). All authority in
heaven and earth has been given to Jesus. Everything
that exists in this world and beyond is subject to the
Name of Jesus.
The day you were born again, you ceased to live
in your name; you inherited the Name of Jesus. You’re
therefore supposed to function in His place, with His
authority and in His character. Your words carry the
same power and authority as Jesus.’ His Name has
power everywhere. It has power over governments,
devils, principalities, and powers. Use that Name.
Not many Christians know how to use the Name
of Jesus; they think it’s just a name to put at the end of
a prayer; it’s much more than that. The Bible says, “And
whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask
any thing in my name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14).
This is Jesus talking, and He wasn’t referring to prayer,
because you can’t pray to Jesus in the Name of Jesus.
He’s talking about using His Name as an instrument;
making a demand in His Name.
Peter did that with the lame man at the gate of
the temple called Beautiful; he said, “In the Name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” He then
got the crippled man by the right hand, pulled him up,
and his anklebones received strength. The Bible says,
“And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered
with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and
praising God” (Acts 3:8). Amazing! In Acts 3:16 and
Acts 4:9-10, Peter declared that the Name of Jesus was
the instrument that performed the miracle. Blessed be
God!
You have the greatest gift of all times; the gift of
the Name of Jesus. Use it every day, and everywhere.
When you demand something to happen in His Name,
He’s back of it; He makes sure it happens, because
He’s got the power Glory to God!
Prayer
Blessed heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of the Name of
Jesus, and the power of attorney given to me to use it. By that
Name, which you have highly exalted and placed above every
other name, I live victoriously and dominate life’s situations
and circumstances. Amen.
