Training Your Spirit For Success
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness
is profitable unto all things, having promise of the
life, that now is, and of that which is to come
(1 Timothy 4:8).
In 1 Thessalonians 5:23, the Apostle Paul, by the
Spirit, penned down a beautiful prayer for the
saints. But something worthy of note is the order. Let’s
read: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;
and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body
be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ.” The spirit comes first, the soul second,
and third, the physical body. This is the Spirit’s order,
and that shows us why we ought to give premium to
the development of our human spirit.
Sadly, many are only concerned about what takes
place in their physical bodies, or how their minds
function, losing sight of the most important—their
spirit. God is much more concerned about your
spirit. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all
diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” “Heart”
is synonymous with the human spirit, and that verse
tells us that’s where the issues of life emanate from.
Prosperity, health, wellness, peace, victory, joy,
and every good thing you could ever imagine are all
domiciled in your spirit. Can you see why you should
rather give more time to the development of your
spirit? Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man out of the
good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which
is good….”
Your heart—your spirit—is a treasure house of
good things. The ideas and thoughts that’ll make you
creative and excellent in all you do, are resident in
your spirit. The highest potentials of the human nature
are in his spirit. So, keep educating your spirit with the
Word. Do this through conscious study and meditation
on the Scriptures. Fasting, prayer, and swiftly acting
on spiritual instructions are also ways you train and
exercise your spirit for success and excellence.
Prayer
Dear Father, I thank you for your Spirit guides me in all things, and
floods my heart with light that I may know and walk in your
perfect will always. My faith prevails today, as I put your Word
to work; your righteousness, and the forces of life within my spirit,
are unleashed, and your glory is revealed in and through me,
in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
