Fortify Yourself With The Word
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in
the power of his might…For we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand
(Ephesians 6:10-13).
The first part of our opening Scripture urges
God’s people to be strong in the Lord, and
in the power of His might. God never tells you to do
something you couldn’t do; if He says, “Be strong in
the Lord,” it means that’s what you need to do.
Then, the eleventh verse says, “Put on the whole
armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil.” Again, He tells you what to
do against the devil. You shouldn’t say, “The devil is
too strong for me”; if you put on the whole armour of
God, you’ll be able to stand against all the stratagems,
schemes, manoeuvres, and manipulations of the devil.
The instruction is clear: Fortify yourself in, and with
the Word.
Many Christians live a life that looks like Christianity,
but isn’t true Christianity. As a result, when they face
challenges, they falter and are defeated, and then they
whine, “But I prayed; I don’t know why God didn’t
do it.” But in the verses that we read in our theme
scripture, God instructed us clearly on what to do.
What He said in verse thirteen is the reason for verses
10-12. It says, “Wherefore take unto you the whole
armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in
the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
There’s a day of trouble (the evil day); it may not
be today, but it’s to be anticipated. There’s an enemy
out there seeking whom to devour, and when he has
the opportunity, he’ll strike. But we’re not ignorant
of His devices. As long as you’re strong in the Lord,
and in the power of His might, putting on the whole
armour of God, you’ll discomfit the enemy whenever
he shows up, and you’ll still be standing.
Confession
I live far above the machinations, schemes, and devices of the devil,
because I live in Christ, fortified in, and by the Word! I’m strong
in the Lord and in the power of His might; I’m positioned for
victory, and energised for the supernatural life, in Jesus’Name. Amen.
